What runs through the mind of a 30 something married man with 5 kids a good job a huge comic book collection, an impressive DVD collection, nearly every movie stub from every movie he's seen since Back to the Future; topped off with a mind filled with endless movie quotes, dabbling in theology, a continuous pursuit of being a professional artist while taking a stab at being a writer? The New Link! - Star Wars The Force Unleashed
Contributed by: John Kindelan   on 10/7/2008

Welcome to the new link. Where we will have a weekly blog or story about all things tech or gadget related.

This week Star Wars The Force Unleashed !

There is already so much stuff out there on the web for this game. There are whole websites, wikis, blogs and articles dedicated to The Force Unleashed. Going over game play, cheat codes, and just gushing over Lucas and the Star Wars ranch.

I don't blame them, I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd myself (just the 3 originals though). Randall in Clerks II says it best, there's only one Trilogy and its of the Jedi not the King.

Star Wars Unleashed steps outside of the movies, it is supposed to be a mid point between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope(aka the original Star Wars). That's at least what the designers and Lucas are telling us, however, the story is about Darth Vader's secret apprentice and his plot to kill the Emperor. I don't exactly remember Vader not liking the Emperor except right up until the very end of The Empire Strikes Back. Even then his stand isn't 100%. We all know it took a whole lot of coaxing from Luke in Jedi to even get his old man to help him slightly.

So aside from that weird little plot twist, which is actually the norm as far as I'm concerned for a Star Wars movie. (Am I the only one who thinks George didn't know what was going to happen in Jedi when he was making Star Wars? The love triangle in the first movie involved a Brother and Sister! For Jedi's sake.) The game is great, with the apprentice of Darth Vader being a very cool character. He runs in to various life forms, Jedis and Storm Troopers he has to fight on the different levels of the game.

I have the game for the Wii system, it might not have the 'superior' graphics that the Playstation 3 or X Box has but it definately has better game play. With the Wii you use your controller as your light sabre and your nunchuk control to move about and preform special Force moves like picking Storm Troopers up and smashing them to the ground.

With the Wii your level 'bosses' also are a bit different. You have to hit a series of movements with your Wii remote in order to defeat the boss. You miss the move you have to keep going until you get it right.

But by far the BEST feature of the Wii's Star Wars The Force Unleashed is the Duel Mode that exists outside the story mode. This features is not even available to PS3 or XBox. The duel mode allows you to choose between 16 characters to have light sabre fights with a second player. The character list to choose from is fantastic. Of course it comes with Vader and the Apprentice but you also get favorites like Luke Skywalker, Mace Windu, Yoda and others. My only complaint about duel mode is that it is ONLY a two player game. You can't play duel one player against the computer.

If your a fan of the Star Wars franchise at any age level this is great game for you, myself, my teenage son Dyllan and my 8 year old son Austin all have different memories and thoughts on Star Wars and this game makes it great for all of us.

I highly recommend you check out some of the very cool websites out there for this game and if your going to get it and you have a choice of what system to play it on, go for the Wii and get the full training to become a Jedi Master! Or an evil Sith Lord if your a bad guy.
