Knee-high Naturalists

Our summer Knee-High Naturalists session started off today with a flutter!

After listening to "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and another book about butterflies, the kids enjoyed acting out the butterfly life cycle (egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult butterfly).They dressed up with antennae (head bands with pipe cleaners), wings (scarves), and proboscis (party blowers) to fly around the room like butterflies!

On the the way to the craft room, they had to search for a matching butterfly wing in the exhibit room.Then it was time to paint their own symmetrical butterfly wings! After glueing on a paint stick handle, the butterflies were ready to flutter away. A butterfly-themed snack rounded out the program.
