Of Angels and Artists

Updates on the adventures of a courageous woman setting out on a new path: exploring my creative, artistic self. Courageous? How so - hmmmm, well suspect many of us are - but putting ourselves out there in new ways always take a bit of courage. Title of this blog has to do with my themes in my artwork which often gravitate to angels and my love of animals (especially felines). Hope to entertain but mostly keep you up on my successes and trials/errors - when I hit one well out of the park and when I punt. Or in more artistic terms - when the brushstroke manages to evoke emotion and when it just simply stalls out and needs a fresh inspiration. Welcome and enjoy! Cynthia

Of Angels and Artists

First entry today.... hoping to reach a few fellow artists in the Erie County and Niagara county area and let a few of my neighbors know a little bit about my art. Have dabbled in various mediums, and loved art all of my life - everything from photography to paintings,to being intrigued by what a director does with a scene in a film. It is all so amazingly rich.

For me this is a time of reconnecting with my artistic self and giving it more of a chance to grow and fly. I rented an art studio at Lockport's Market Street Art Center (studio 221) as of this summer 2007, and it has been wonderful.

Some of my favorite themes to work on are angels but I also love animals and cats in particular show up in my creations. I am working with pencil and soft pastels much of the time but have also been working in acrylic paint and oils. The beautiful summer we have been having is once again creating a truly amazing day here and so I am feeling drawn outside and will keep this first entry brief..... but more to follow....
