24th Annual WNY High School ChalkWalk Competition
Contributed by: ew on 6/14/2008

What:
Watch the chalk fly as teams of talented student artists create spectacular murals on Center Street on opening day of the Lewiston Outdoor Art Festival.
Our Chalk Walk is based on a tradition of street painting that dates back to the 18th century. For years it could be seen on the sidewalks of major cities around the world. Half the fun for the artist is sharing his or her creative energy with thousands of delighted passersby.

The theme for this year's competition is "200 Years of Cultural Diversity " to commemorate the bicentennial of Niagara County. Students will be challenged to create murals depicting the cultural diversity of the County during the past two hundred years.

KeyBank's "Arts are Key" Cash prizes and trophies are awarded in 5 categories.

Sponsored in part by KeyBank and Mount St. Mary's Hospital
Where: Outdoors on Center Street, Lewiston, NY 14092
When: Noon to 5 PM
Event Dates: This event takes place on 8/9/2008.
