Pushing The Flywheel. Should the County community rally collectively around pushing a flywheel to fling Niagara County over the wall that bars us from achieving our aspirations to be great? Author and lecturer Jim Collins, who penned the breakthrough # 1 Bestseller Good To Great and his subsequent accompanying monograph Good To Great And The Social Sectors, would cheer lead us to do so. A community organization to be great must push, push, push, and push some more. According to Collins, for us to be great, there is no single defining action, no grand program, no one killer innovation, no solitary lucky break, no miracle moment. It is a matter of turning the flywheel inch-by-inch, never stopping, never ceasing to push toward resolution of our financial, environmental, and societal crises. Each turn of the flywheel builds on the previous effort until the flywheel flies forward with almost unstoppable momentum. So says Collins.
