Medicaid NY Style

Medicaid NY Style. New York State continues passing along Medicaid costs to Niagara County. A million dollars plus cost increase is projected in 2008. The County has had to once again file a home rule message to extend an additional 1% sales tax rate to offset the Medicaid burden. Most states do not do what New York does. North Carolina may be the only other one. This last year a North Carolina US congressman proposed barring states from burdening counties with Medicaid costs, certainly an idea on the Federal level whose time has come in New York.
