A partnership between the City of Niagara Falls, the Niagara Falls Block Club Council, Niagara Falls Weed & Seed and ReNU Niagara COPC at Niagara University has been initiated for the reporting of graffiti and street light problems in Niagara Falls.
Graffiti
A plan has been formulated to tackle this during the summer and hopefully on into the future as somehow this problem never goes away. Your job as a citizen will be to spot this graffiti as soon as it appears. If it is "words" that you suspect may be gang related please call the Niagara Falls Police Department, 286-4711, and report the location for documentation by the Field Intelligence Officer. All graffiti, including the above, can be reported for removal by calling the ReNU Niagara COPC Green Line at 205-0287 and reporting the location. No need to leave your personal information - just the location and please be specific. These locations will be sorted and photographed by outreach workers at COPC and Weed & Seed and a team of volunteers headed by Niagara Falls Block Club Council president, Roger Spurback will remove it.
Street Lights
Mayor Vince Anello announced the "Light It Up" public safety initiative which will clear obstructions from city street lights and make the streets brighter anbd safer for citizens. City block clubs will help identify the street lights in need of immediate attention but you, the citizen, can also help.
Non-working street lights need to be located and reported as well as street lights obstructed by overgrown tree foliage. The same Green Line telephone number can be utilized for reporting these problems. You job as citizens is to look for these lights, encourage your friends, family and neighbors to look for these problems and call this number 205-0287, giving the exact location with the "pole number" if possible. The information will be sorted and given to the City Forestry Department for tree trimming to remove overgrown tree limbs that present hazards to power lines. Location of non-working street lights will be handled by the Engineering Department and National Grid.
LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO "CLEAN IT UP" AND "LIGHT IT UP".
