Story


Volunteerism is strong in Niagara Falls

Over 700 volunteers showed up on April 21st to help clean up Niagara Falls. The Niagara Beautification Commission sponsored its annual Beautify Niagara clean up campaign last weekend and it was the best yet. I will be posting photos and stories about this in the near future and will try to highlight the entire event.

Shown in this story is some work performed along Gill Creek in the area of Hyde Park and Niagara Street. Cal Babcock and Walter Kendzia and Ken Sherman, volunteers from LaSalle Pride asked for help from the Niagara County Sheriff Work Force and together they pulled shopping carts from the Gill Creek. Shown in the photo are Roger Spurback, his mother, Cal Babcock, Norma Higgs, Mark from the Sheriff Work Force Supervision, Walter Kendzia and Niagara Falls Fire Chief William MacKay.

They also trimmed bushes, cut trees and generally cleaned up this area. Look at all the photos to see their efforts. What a great group.
