Thanks for the Memories, a writing program for seniors, is sponsored by the Niagara County Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
In 2004, RSVP volunteer
Elaine Brown started a class for seniors to record their memoirs and family histories (including health history) for future generations. At the present time classes are being held at various locations throughout Niagara County.
You do not need to be a writer. Spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure do not matter. Just write your thoughts and memories and have fun. Participants write during class with time limits for topics. Sharing their writings with the class is optional.
If your senior center, club, or church group would like to start a class, RSVP can help. We have materials to get you started. All you need is someone from your group to lead the class. Your "chosen" leader can sit in on one of the existing classes to get a better understanding of how to lead the sessions.
