While Niagara Falls, New York was losing tourist attractions over the winter of 2007-2008,
The Mob Tours
was gearing up to take their place. This Saturday, July 19, 2008, the organized crime tour company will remember former Niagara Falls/Buffalo mob boss Stefano "the Undertaker" Magaddino on the 24th anniversary of his death. "Dress Like a Mobster Day is a way to remember the anniversary of his death," stated founder Mike "Lefty" Rizzo, "without actually glorifying it. It will be a fitting way to highlight a historical day in Niagara Falls history, for after Magaddino died, the mob power moved to Buffalo."
"Dress Like a Mobster Day"
starts at 10:00AM in front of the Daredevil Museum, 303 Rainbow Blvd. All contestants will be judged for their originality and costume, and will receive a discount pass for the tour. The winner will receive two free passes and a t-shirt to The Mob Tours, as well as a gift certificate to Magaddino's favorite restaurant.
Mob Museum
One of the stops on The Mob Tours is Little Italy Niagara, a small mafia museum on 19th Street. While Las Vegas is planning on building a museum dedicated to organized crime, Niagara Falls already has one. Rizzo explained: "They have been building their collection over the years and have multiple items telling the history of Magaddino and the Niagara Falls mob. It's a great addition to our tour and the people love it. While the Vegas museum won't open for two more years, we have a real one right here, and it's part of our tour."
Sopranos Actor
Actor Joseph R. Gannascoli, best known for his role as Vito Spatafore in Sopranos, has agreed to allow his name and likeness to be used for promotional purposes for The Mob Tours. "Having Mr. Gannascoli help us out at this juncture is a fantastic opportunity and we truly appreciate his support," stated Rizzo. Gannascoli also appeared in Goodfellas, Blowfish and has written a novel.
The Mob Tours run every Saturday and Sunday at 11AM and 1PM, as well as other times for groups. The bus boards at 303 Rainbow Blvd. in front of the Daredevil Museum at 15 minutes prior to the start of the tours. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made through their website www.themobtours.com or by phone 716-578-4939. Walk-ups are welcome as long as there is room, but cash only at the door. Individual tickets are $39.95.
For further information please contact Mike Rizzo, 716-578-4939 or info@themobtours.com.

WOW! When I was there,(from about 1963 to 1967) a fellow "committed suicide" by tying himself up, shooting himself, jumping in the trunk of his car, and driving into the river! Wish I could visit, I would take the tour for sure. Go Rizzo! Susie from Texas
