Alan J. Steinberg, the Region 2 administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will speak at the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. His appearance is part of the John J. LaFalce Environmental Leadership Lecture, sponsored by NU's Environmental Leadership Institute (ELI).
Steinberg's discussion, "Accelerating the Pace of Environmental Protection While Continuing to Grow Our Economic Competitiveness," is free and open to the public.
Prior to his EPA appointment, he was regional advocate, Region 2, for the federal government's Small Business Administration. He has served as the executive director of the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission and was a member of the New Jersey Executive Commission on Ethical Standards. He also worked for the New Jersey Department of Commerce and Economic Development as an assistant commissioner, and acted as senior policy adviser in the New Jersey Assembly Majority Office.
Region 2 includes New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and seven tribal nations.
