A story about another relative - the first person who comes to mind has to be a cousin by marriage. He was very lucky to meet and marry his wonderful wife, who was a daughter of my father's sister. I don't know too much of his young days but I know he was born in Italy and became a doctor. He landed in the small town on Jamestown, NY, which is just a few miles from Fredonia, where I lived. They had three children, all girls, but he was very proud of them and wasn't disappointed that he did not have a son. In fact, one of the girls became a doctor and also practiced in Jamestown. She is now retired with grandchildren and still living there.
I can remember them coming to Fredonia almost every Sunday, always bringing goodies. He loved my mother's cooking.
Things changed on that fateful day in December when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
In no time at all, he gathered up his family and hurried back home, for the war.
I can always remember when I fell ill, he was the doctor who diagnosed my condition, while my doctor was not treating me correctly.
All his patients were lucky to have him. There should be more doctors like him, today.
I should also include his wife in this story. She was a wonderful woman. They were a perfect pair.
