I had a red-headed aunt and she always told me she was my favorite aunt - of course, she was my only aunt. She was always trying to make my mother jealous, "She likes me more than you, she likes my cooking better than yours," and then she would brainwash me so I would actually agree with her. When all this was going on, I was about 3-4 years old and living on 24th Street in Niagara Falls.
Well, mom, dad and I moved to Buffalo, the Fruit Belt area, Mulberry Street, and my Aunt Jane moved to Akron, Ohio. She was married with two little boys but she was wacky and we heard many crazy stories. One of the stories was:
A salesman came to the door and Aunt Jane answered. Aunt Jane looked like a teenager with her fuzzy carrot red hair and petite appearance. So the salesman very politely asked, "May I speak to your mother, young lady?" So Aunt Jane answered, "Of course you can. Right now she's up on the chimney rocking in her rocking chair!"
The man stared at her for a few seconds and then ran down the driveway. My aunt stood in the doorway laughing as the salesman drove away.
This was only one of her tricks. However, mom got even with her once. Aunt Jane was supposed to be at our house for Thanksgiving but she called the last minute to say she could not come. However she told mom to save the part that goes over the fence last for her. So mom cut the butt end of the turkey off and mailed it to Aunt Jane. Of course it was uneatable but the joke was accepted.
