In the course of my work I still get stopped and asked this question -- it's no surprise, really. Cornell Cooperative Extension's Nutrition Programs suffer a bit of an identity crisis but as a taxpayer, member of this community, and someone potentially eligible to participate, you deserve to know!
The basic message is: We offer FREE nutrition and money management classes for eligible families.Every year there are a few slots for folks without children and for seniors, but they fill up quickly. Our goal is to help people learn healthy habits while trying to stretch their food and household dollars -- which seems to be more and more important these days!
Our educators are highly trained in the areas of nutrition, health, finance, parenting, and other useful things like organizational skills. People who complete the required series of lessons with us show great success - both "on paper" and in ways that are really meaningful to themselves personally and to their families.
Hereare some 'tidbits' about us::
---People have different nutrition needs at different times in their lives. We can help you with
improving your health, at any age!
---We can also show you tips to
feed your family healthy meals.
---Need more
ideas for quick, healthy meals that your family will enjoy? Let us show you the way.
---We want to help your family use its money in a way that gives you the most
spending power!
---Learn how to make a
budgetplan to cover your monthly expenses without wasting a penny.
---We can teach you to
stretch your food dollar to feed your family for less.
We offer classes to small groups wherever there's a spot to meet. We can teach at community centers, schools, churches, or in our conveniently-located offices.
We can also teach people at home so there's no worry about finding a baby-sitter or driving to a class.
ALL PROGRAMS AND CLASSES ARE FREE.
