Blog Entry 21 of 22 Beanz World

So I have been asked to start a blog about life, business and volunteering in downtown Niagara Falls. I will try to keep you informed on all things good, and maybe a little bad, happening in our city. I am very optomistic that things are on the verge of turinig around and I am willing to do all that I can to help the cause. Many of you know the history behind my husband, myself and The Bean. We came back here for my 20 year reunion, saw the state of the city, bought a house, returned to Florida to sell our house and pack, came back here just to open a business and try to make a small difference in the city. Whew. So here we are. How much of a difference we make has yet to be seen. I have been removed from the Tourism Advisory Board, due to my big mouth no doubt! I am still very active in Niagara Rises and am on the Main Street Business & Professionals Association Board now. I cant wait to see what is in store for 2008.

Have you ever wanted to be involved in the community but did not want to get involved with the political machine ? Not all volunteer groups are created equal ! Frank Croisdale, a writer for the Niagara Falls Reporter, put out a call to ordinary citizens who want to bring change to Niagara Falls. What started out last year as a handful of us in the Days Inn basement, has now turned into many of us in the Ballroom. Each month our numbers grow as word gets out to the community about what we are doing.

To borrow a phrase from one of our guest speakers, we are aiming for the "low hanging fruit". What this means is that the goals we have set are achievable. If you would like more information on Niagara Rises please visit Niagara Rises.
