With Halloween just around the corner, time is running out to visit the Hamburg Fairgrounds for the biggest thrill of the season. Scare at the Fair is the place where you and your family can enjoy "The Haunted Mansion" and "The Castle of Nightmares", two houses that are truly "spooktacular" based at the home of "America's Fair".

Scare at the Fair is a great way to get the family together to bring in the Halloween season. These two houses of horror are able to send chills up the spines of kids of all ages. You may choose your fate by entering one of the two doorways for a walk through their terrifying innards, which may vary in length, (depending on if you get so spooked you felt the need to speed walk!). However, for those younger Halloween lovers who may be scared a little too easily, Scare at the Fair offers a more kid-friendly "White Lights On" experience for younger children, available from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm this Saturday and Sunday.

Though we see only the ghoulish results, a great deal of time and preparation are put into every detail. Unlike many other houses, the actors and coordinators of Scare at the Fair make much of their own sets, from the special spray-on cobwebs to the creepy curtains that hang from the windows. Thecharacters of the house not only devote timeintothe detail of the houses themselves, but their own costumes and make-up with spooky cloaked figures, recreating some of Hollywood's most popular and terrifying monsters, as well as some original creatures. It's easy to simply buy everything, but this staff is a family who has worked 6 years running to build their haunting masterpieces from the bottom up. Six semi-trucks and five weeks later, Scare at the Fair is open to the public for the month of October.

Co-coordinator Chris Harter said, "When you go to a haunted house you can expect to be scared." He certainly was not lying. Our own personal experiences had us jumping, shrieking, and screaming at each and every turn. When our hearts stopped pounding after only the Haunted Mansion, we were defiantly ready for The Castle of Nightmares! If it wasn't the characters scaring us, it was the amazing props and special effects sending us running, sometimes into unseen walls. However, a few minor bumps couldn't take away from such a fun and scary scene.

Don't forget that the event is very affordable. One house for $7.00, two houses for $14.00, and a monster truck ride for only $6.00. The kid friendly "white lights on" experience is perfect for the family costing $6.00 a ticket. The Hamburg Fairgrounds turns into the ultimate Halloween scene as Scare at the Fair creeps in for yet another fun and frightening holiday.
