Alternatives to Violence
St. Columban Center is hosting the Alternatives to Violence Project Workshops on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. thru Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
We live in a world filled with violence. We should not live this way- hurting and being hurt by the violence done to us. The AVP staff believes that this can change and that the place to start is within each one of us.
Everyone has a lifetime of experiences --we help people look at their experiences and draw from ways to move towards being more nonviolent. The AVP process is one of seeking and sharing, not one of lecturing. AVP works to develop a sense of community in which we can learn more positive and productive ways of dealing with conflict. We also help nourish the attitudes that can help us make a difference in the world around us.
