If there was still any doubt as to whom the Buffalo Bisons were affiliating with, it was gone as soon as visitors to the press conference Monday at Dunn Tire Park exited the elevator to enter Pettibones. Greeting the guests were Buster Bison and his new best friend, Mr. Met.
Inside Pettibones, a colorful Mets logo was blazing from all the TV screens, and a backdrop behind the podium boasted Mets and Bisons logos.
Then came the announcement everyone was waiting to hear: The Bisons and Mets have signed a two-year affiliation agreement. Joining Bisons dignitaries were Mets COO Jeff Wilpon and GM Omar Minaya, along with Gov. David Paterson, County Executive Chris Collins, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and numerous other politicians and business leaders.
The Mets brass certainly got off on the right foot, presenting a check for $25,000 to the Buffalo Public Schools' high school baseball program.
Look for new Bisons jerseys and new colors coming very soon. And look for the excitement to grow should the Mets make the playoffs this year and make any kind of run. As we all know, Buffalo loves - and supports - a winner!

I'm not a big NYC sports fan, so it's weird to be embracing the Mets, but I am a Bisons fan...so welcome Mr. Met to Buffalo!
