The Buffalo Bills select ...
Contributed by: Joe Kirchmyer   on 4/23/2008

There was a lot of sports radio chatter earlier this week about whether the Buffontario Bills should go after WR Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals. Many people (callers and hosts) were calling him one of the top five receivers in the NFL. Really? He's probably not even the best receiver on his team. Over the past two years, T.J. Houshmandzaheh has caught 202 passes, while Johnson has caught 180. During that same time, Housh had 21 TD catches while Chad had 15. Even the oft-suspended Chris Henry caught nine TD passes two years ago, compared to just seven for Johnson. I'm not sure if trading away draft picks and/or players for a player with a tarnished reputation (not to mention a big mouth) is the answer. Let's see if the WR issue can be resolved in this weekend's draft.

While the Sabres didn't make the playoffs this year, they could create tremendous off-season buzz by signing college stars Nathan Gerbe and Tim Kennedy to contracts. But I'll admit I'm getting nervous wondering why they haven't done so yet. Losing either one of these players would be a crime. And when will we learn more about the Rochester situation? I know there's little or no chance that we'll still have the Rochester affiliation next year, but maybe common sense will get the better of everyone and something will be worked out that will satisfy hockey fans in both cities.

On paper, I thought the Buffalo Bisons were going to field an awesome team this year. On the field, it's been more awful than awesome so far. Like the Sabres-Rochester issue, could the affiliation problems with Cleveland be behind the poor performance on the field? Fortunately, it's a long season. Let's hope they can turn things around quickly.

At least the Bandits are playing well and have clinched a playoff spot. If you haven't been to a Bandits game, you're missing out on a great time.

According to published reports, Toronto, the New York Mets and Washington seem to be the frontrunners for becoming the Bisons' new parent club next season. Toronto or the Mets would be OK with me. Where do you stand?

Who would you like to see the Bills draft in round one?

What's your take on the Sabres off-season?

Let's hear it, sports fans!

Mets - No (any team that has a Red Apple rise when it hits a home run doesn't do it for me) Jays - No (the Chiefs have been so bad for so long) Nationals - Yes (Stan Kasten is their Pres. and built the Atl Braves farm system and wants to do it the same way fro Wash.)

I don't think Chad Johnson belongs on the Bills. There are better players out there who would be a better fit for the team. The Sabres front office should spend the off-season trying to keep our key players on the team. As for the Bisons new parent team, Toronto may be a good fit.
