Chicken, golf, Letchworth, bikes, Aussies--where does it end?
If you read below you'll discover yet another instance of Wally's poetic phrasing: "Chair and chief feather plucker" sends shivers of verbal music throughout my endocrine system, as it were. Wally, tell us about last Wednesday, please...

International Picnic at Letchworth
State Park -
John Cleary and Pat DePasquale are
making arrangements for this family event on June 21,
2008. There will be 10 Rotarians from Melbourne,
Australia as our guests. The shelter at the Lower Falls is
near nature hiking trails and a great view of the falls. This
will be an excellent time for your family and extended
family to enjoy the "Grand Canyon of the East". See flyer on next page. Tell
John
Cleary what you will be bringing to share.
Program: Office Depot recently opened a new outlet at Seneca and Ridge
Roads. Our speakers were Dave Roche, store manager, and Jayson Dyminski,
business development manager. They explained some of the corporate philosophy of
Office Depot in the competitive retailing of office supplies. Their refilling and remanufacturing
of ink supply services was most interesting. They also produce
banners, which Rotary clubs can use in announcing their events.
Bike Trek -
Larry (Like My Spandex?) Rose is looking for sponsors as
well riders for this beautiful ride along the Niagara Gorge taking place on Saturday,
June 7, 2008. Fifty percent of the funds raised will be sent back to our Rotary Club.
Finemaster: Our Finemaster was sub
Jack Amico. Jack went back to one of his
favorite fine categories: "This Day in History". No one knew the answers, and that
was the point of the entire exercise. There were Happy Dollars:
Jean Kovach for the
school district budget passing;
Dave Rosner for selling one of his arty photographs at the
anniversary ceremony of the signing of the peace treaty between the Seneca Nation and the
US ;
Bob Rigby for a golf bet that
John Cleary won;
Rich Robinson for good weather for
the Chicken BBQ;
Peter Fenn for sitting near the spandex bicycle man
Larry Rose;
Membership: Our guests were Diane Nash and Richard Jauch. The Board of
Directors approved
Richard Jauch, owner of Clabeaux Optical at the French Lea and
Clinton Plaza for over 28 years, for membership.
He is sponsored by Bob Rigby.
Card Game: With 36 cards to pick from
Pam Gibbs had her ticket pulled.
But there was no luck for Pam. The card game pot is now worth $121.
Announcements:
Nelson Cosgrove gave some local Rotary history and background regarding
the person who influenced his involvement in Rotary.
Dr. John Frid, a Past District
Governor and member of the Hamilton Rotary Club, who passed away this week,
was that person. Nelson said he looked up to Dr. Frid, who worked extremely hard
for the poor in India and around the world.
Johnny Van has received over 20 applications for the West Seneca Rotary

BREAKFAST OVERAGE UPDATE
We continue to owe more than what is taken in for the breakfast. It is suggested that we
raise the charge to $10 and have a separate pot for the split club, allowing members to buy
more than one ticket.
Mimi agreed to discuss the issue at Club Assembly on 5/28 detailing how easily the overage
happens. How people order needs to be adjusted even if the price is raised to $10.00.
NEW BUSINESS
Jack Amico gave a report on a District simplified grant he made out the application for. The
grant would be for a set of 7 grade books that th th e school needed. The matching funds will
be from the money already designated for the W. Seneca Schools.
PRESIDENT ELECT REPORT
John Boronkay gave an overview of his plans for his term. He distributed a planning
calendar and budget. He would also like to establish a commission to make
recommendations regarding the Donor Advised fund. There was general discussion about
disbanding the current foundation and the details and costs involved. Jim Liegl will discuss
with Clark/Koller.
John requested that the June BOD meeting be a transition meeting.

Bob Rigby presented the name of Dick Jauch from Clabeaux Optical for membership. A
motion was approved to accept Dick Jauch for membership.
