The New Link - Lego Batman!
Contributed by: John Kindelan on 11/4/2008

I'm not one for running out and buying the latest game. I love a store where I can pick up a used game for under $10 or $20, I'm a patient man when it comes to my gaming. But recently a game came out that I had to run out and get. "Lego Batman The Video Game." it was released for all of the systems, Xbox, Wii, PSP, and Playstations 2 and 3. I went out and picked it up for Playstation 2 as I saw no differences in any of the systems and the PS2 version was the cheapest.

The game incorporates the same lego game play as the previous Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones. Punch a bad guy or any object in game play and watch it bust up into tiny little lego pieces, and in some situations you take those pieces and build new items to advance you in the game.

The game has great game play, intricate puzzles you have to figure out and best of all a very very large interactive enviroment. To top it off after you've reached a certain level in the game you don't just have to play as the caped crusader any more. In fact you can be the bad guy!

The game allows you to enter Arkham Asylum which houses all of Gothams goons and allow you to wage a war of crime. Keep in mind this is no grand theft auto, in fact when you play in Free Play mode you will have to use villains to advance to certain areas of the game.

The game starts in game play and when you get to the end of a level you head back to the batcave, complete with bat compuer, bat mobile, bat boat, and bat helicopter. The different vehicles take you to different areas of the game. We are still currently playing the batmobiles "The Riddlers Revenge" level. You have to collect all of the pieces before you can advance to the other sections of the game, and it can be a very trying task.

Some hints - try and unlock the mini kit locator, there are cheat codes online that the game encourages you to go and get. There is no enter the secret code on this screen when you see this flashing scenario. You can go right to the bat computer and enter in Cheat Codes.

I love this game and I'm in my 30s. My 8 year old son loves it and my 12 year old daughter loves it too. She likes that she can use Bat Girl and play the game so she doesn't have to play as a boy. As simplistic as the game is, its also extremely intricate. Figuring out the puzzles and knowing a little of Batman knowledge helps you solve the puzzles. Knowing you have to use Joker's joy buzzer to start one of the engines was a tricky one that took us a while to figure out. Go check out Lego Batman, you will not be disapointed.
