After more than 90 years of operation, the Buffalo City Mission will finally open its doors to host the first ever open house with employee guided tours. On Thursday, September 11 the public will be allowed to walk the halls, view emergency shelters, and see where more than 100,000 meals are prepared annually. Guests will also have an opportunity to meet some of the successful residents served by the Mission's Men's Community Center and the Women and Children's Shelter Cornerstone Manor.
Prior to the tours, Mission staff will hold a community ceremony to remember those who lost family and friends on September 11, 2001 and honor the soldiers and veterans who protect our country. The Erie County Sheriff's Department color guard will be on site to raise the flag half-staff.
