Blog Entry 114 of 129 Somewhere Between Here and There
What runs through the mind of a 30 something married man with 5 kids a good job a huge comic book collection, an impressive DVD collection, nearly every movie stub from every movie he's seen since Back to the Future; topped off with a mind filled with endless movie quotes, dabbling in theology, a continuous pursuit of being a professional artist while taking a stab at being a writer? Fanboys & TrueBelievers 22 Comic Book Tattoos
Contributed by: John Kindelan   on 8/27/2008

There's something about comic books and tattoos they go hand in hand or ink and ink. A lot of comic book collectors and or enthusiasts are usually big on tattoos as well, probably because we are lovers of a visual art that tells a story, and that's what a tattoo is. Its more than a drawing, it's a permanent drawing you've decided to carry with you for the rest of your life.

And again to jump on the band wagon just recently on another web site they discussed comic books and tattoos. They showed a comic store owner some where in the US and his tattoos. I didn't particularly care for his tatts, he had the Wonder Woman bracelets tattooed on his wrists, little odd in my opinion.

But while comic book fans will adorn their body with maybe one or two tattoos, I myself have one and I'm planning to get another one in January. Comic book store owners apparently do tend to wear their professions not on their sleeves but rather as sleeves.

I've stated numerous times that I pick up my books at Don's Atomic Comics on Transit Rd. in Depew. Its also the store for fellow blogger Tom Waters, as well as local rock star Rand from one of my favorite bands, Ookla The Mok. I'm not sure of Tom and Rand's tattoo status but Don is a walking billboard of what type of comics he likes.

Don and I usually debate on what is considered a good comic book. I'm a capes and cowls guy, he's an independent 'science' heroes type of guy. Which explains why I have the Flash emblem tattooed on my arm and he has a myriad of images from some of the greatest independent comics out there.

Don's tattoos consist of Tom Strong, Watchmen, Constantine, Hellboy, Prometha, Swamp Thing, Sandman, and V for Vendetta to name a few. My tattoo in January is a combination of the Superman shield, the Batman symbol and the Green Lantern symbol, all to be put together in a cross right above my Flash symbol.

Stay tuned TrueBelievers I'll have pics of my tattoo and the adventure of Kortney and I going to get it right here. Same blog time, same blog channel.
