As I walked down the aisle at Target to pickup some Axe, I felt myself veering to the right into the small section that has the sports cards and other collectables. Over many of the last few years of visiting this retailer I've made this journey to this section before, but this time turned out a bit more differently.
For the first time in seemingly forever, I walked away with a box and a few packs of cards. I finally gave into my inner impulses that have been haunting me all these years and re-splurged into my football card addiction.
Mind you, I've purchased a few packs here and there through high school and college, but no major investments, until this last trip to Target. I'm not sure what finally made me do it this time, maybe the fact that I saw a new historical high in my checking account and felt the sudden urge to bring that number down a bit.
All together I spent about a tank worth a gas, just over $40, on this latest addition to my binders in my closet.
However after cracking through my box of 2007 Bowman, I can already tell you I've made out on the deal. On the third or fourth pack, I snagged a cool Adrian Peterson rookie jersey card that lists at a nice $40 in an older Beckett that I have around the house. So essentially, I've profited off this latest dive back into one of my oldest obsessions.
