Blog Entry 70 of 110 Somewhere Between Here and There
What runs through the mind of a 30 something married man with 5 kids a good job a huge comic book collection, an impressive DVD collection, nearly every movie stub from every movie he's seen since Back to the Future; topped off with a mind filled with endless movie quotes, dabbling in theology, a continuous pursuit of being a professional artist while taking a stab at being a writer? Fanboys and True Believers #11 - LOST Returns!
Contributed by: John Kindelan   on 2/1/2008

Lost Returned last night to ABC, an hour of a 3 year wrap up followed by the season premiere. How does this fall under Fanboys and True Believers? Because Lost is written by fellow comic book geeks for example the last episode of this current season and the writer for the episode entitled Catch-22 that focused around Desmond was written by Brian K. Vaughn, who also writes or has written Y:The Last Man, X-Men, Spiderman, Batman, Green Lantern and many more.

On top of that comics have not only made apperances on Lost, but so has the discussion of comic book characters. In season one we see Michael's son Walt reading a Green Lantern comic book, but its in Spanish. We learn later on that it was Hurley's book, because of course Hurlely speaks spanish his name is Hugo Reyes.UnfortunatelyMichael tosses the comic book into the fire whenpunishing Walt for hanging out with Locke. The book also played a part to the hint of there being a polar bear on the island.

Charile and Hurley get into a debate last season in the episode written by Brian K. Vaughn, comic book writer on who is faster Superman or The Flash.Thisis the episode where Desmond keeps stopping Charlie from getting killed and they get Naomi out of the treefrom where she parachuted in.

Last nights return was bitter sweet. It was great toback into the show, but knowing that it only has 8 episodes writtenbefore we feel the effect of the writers strike stinks. Hey I'm a writer! I'll write the show! I write here for free, I'll do Lost for free too! Well maybe not Free but I'll definately do it cheap!

So not to give away an spoilers the show picks up fromwhere we left off, Hurley saved everyone back on the beach, Jack called for help to the mystery boat, Charlie died, and Locke was acting all kooky. But from thevisions of thefuture we know maybe Locke was right, maybe they shouldn't leave. I'll admit it, last night I cried. When Desmond has to tellHurley Charliedied saving them was tough, but him telling Claire was even sadder to watch. Excellent acting on Hurley's part.

I love this show. Mainly because I can never figure it out. With other shows i can sit there and say I bet he's the killer, or watch thatturns out to be her daughter. With this show, you never know. Sometimes you have to piece two and two together but for the most part it keeps you guessing.

3 season left, 48 episodes, thats only 16 a year, a litte more than one a month, that stinks. End this writers strike, dont let us miss our shows, or else everyone's going to just go back and do that other thing, what is it called? ....Oh yeah, reading!

I've watched Lost since the very beginning. Ever since September 22, 2004 I have been a devoted fan of the show. I totally agree with your reason for watching and staying with the show. It always offers a new mystery that I always need to know the answer to. They know exactly how to write it to keep me intrigued. I'm glad the strike is over...

i just started watching "lost" this past summer, and my wife and i powered our way through all of the first three seasons - including most of the third season online before the DVDs came out - and it's absolutely amazing, i don't know how they do it. what incredible writing. worst part of last night, though - we realized this was the first time we ever watched "lost" during its regularly scheduled time and, obviously, were not able to immediately go on and watch another episode right away. it's going to take some getting used to...
