Blog Entry 55 of 114 Somewhere Between Here and There
What runs through the mind of a 30 something married man with 5 kids a good job a huge comic book collection, an impressive DVD collection, nearly every movie stub from every movie he's seen since Back to the Future; topped off with a mind filled with endless movie quotes, dabbling in theology, a continuous pursuit of being a professional artist while taking a stab at being a writer? Stay Tuned...

Good week at Don's Atomic Comics this week, got some great books and was introduced to a new one. Justice Society of America, Astonishing X-Men, Supergirl, Uncanny X-Men and a new book Surrogates.

Surrogates is the new book that Don recommended its a sci-fi book in which the concept takes computer avatars to the next level. Apparently humans don't really do anything in the future themselves, they sit at home and control their surrogate that goes out in the world and does their job, interacts with other surrogates, dates, eats, anything, weird but seeing as how the online world is so huge, maybe it is only a matter of time. The art work of the book is a very simple style with not a lot of attention to detail or realism, but it works for the style of book it is. So far I'm entertained and look forward to picking up the next issue.

Astonishing X-Men. This book is done by Joss Whedon of Buffy and Serenity TV show fame and John Cassiday on art duties. This book is fantastic and has great humor, excellent writing, character development and is very nicely drawn. All the characters look different act different and have their own sense of personality, some comics have difficulty pulling that off. I've always wondered as an artist why some comic artist out there draw all their people looking as thought they're related some how. The plot twists of this issue are great, and the surprise ending just has me drooling for the next issue.

Thats all I'm going to blog about this week, very busy with the Collectibles Show this Sunday, getting everything ready.
