Blog Entry 43 of 109 Somewhere Between Here and There
What runs through the mind of a 30 something married man with 5 kids a good job a huge comic book collection, an impressive DVD collection, nearly every movie stub from every movie he's seen since Back to the Future; topped off with a mind filled with endless movie quotes, dabbling in theology, a continuous pursuit of being a professional artist while taking a stab at being a writer? Stay Tuned...

The Drive to work
Contributed by: John Kindelan   on 10/4/2007

Everyone has a different experience driving to work I suppose, but mine's not so bad. Some times there some stop and go traffic, its amazing how 10 minutes in the morning can decide between a 20 minute drive to work of a 45 minute drive to work.

I live in the Cheektowaga, Lancaster, Depew area (hence the hub) so I have to hop on the 90W, getting on over by the Galleria Mall. I have my options to stop at several places if I want a coffee in the morning. The drive thru Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Dunkin Donuts, Wegmans, two different McDonalds and a Burger King. So if I'm hungry or want a good cup of coffee I have several options. And even though we have coffee at the office, I like to stop and get a cup on the way in, Tim Hortons in the morning is definately a no, the line goes from the drive thru to the street most of the time, I'm just not waiting that long for a cup of coffee.

So the ride on the 90W is usually a good one, and there is that strip of it just when you get on in Cheektowaga that you get a nice skyline shot of the city. Its near the rail road area, and while that area may not always be the nicest looking (the trains in our area aren't in the greatest of shape) at this time of year at that time of the day you can usually see a bunch of deer walking along side the thruway.

This morning there were 3 does, and a buck with just a small set of antlers hanging out on the side of the road eating away at the grass. I've seen Turkeys, deer, gophers, and I swear to God I once saw a goat. It was probably a deer and I was driving by fast, but I swear I saw a goat.

I could to the hack, cliche whining of how 'no one knows how to drive' wahhhh. It is true though, it rains a bit, we get the first sign of snow, everything slows to a crawl. How you could live hear for this long and not be used to driving in bad weather is beyond me.

So while it might not be the booming metropolis, I like where I live, I like the city, and I have to say the drive into work isn't half bad.
