Solar Powers - Activate!

Yes, it's hot out. Very hot. Fortunately, we planned our Solar Power Play program on one of the hottest and sunniest days of the year. What better time to bake cookies in a solar oven, do experiments with solar cells, float a solar tube in the air, or make a solar nature print! Participants had a ton of fun when they weren't almost melting. Luckily we got to eat the cookies in the air-condition education center. The power of the sun is truly a remarkable thing. As our participants pointed out... it can provide heat, light, photosynthesis, power, and most importantly - it's pretty much responsible in some way or another for almost everything we do. The Earth revolves around it! If you're too hot to get out and celebrate the Sun, take a look out the window and give it a nod. The hottest days of summer are upon us. Let's bask in it - with sunscreen of course!
