Recent college graduates of any faith are sought to experience a year in service to people in need at local non-profit agencies beginning in August.
The Catholic Charities Service Corps (CCSC) is a year-long adventure often described as the Peace Corps meets
The Real World TV
show. Volunteers live in community, gain full-time work experience and focus on four core values: community, simplicity, social justice and spirituality.
Formerly operated as the Diocesan Service Corps under the Diocese of Buffalo, the program has provided volunteers with positive experiences for themselves and the community since 2001.
"It is clear to me now that the CCSC wasn't just a year of service, it was a life-changing experience," said Valentine Ortiz-Meyer, 2005 volunteer. "It has challenged me to live, love and grow."
Volunteers must be at least 21 years old with some college experience and an interest and desire to serve the poor. All health insurance, food, personal transportation and housing expenses are covered by the program.
For more information on the Catholic Charities Service Corps, contact Amy Vukelic at (716) 853-4424 ext. 3028 or visit
