TREE PLANTING TIME IN THE OLMSTED PARKS
With spring officially here, volunteers are needed to aid in park reforestation
Volunteers are needed to plant new trees in the Buffalo Olmsted Park System this spring. The upcoming Community Tree Plantings will help aid in reforesting Buffalo's beautiful Olmsted green spaces following the damaging October 2006, surprise storm. New trees will be planted in all of the historic Frederick Law Olmsted-designed green spaces including Cazenovia, Delaware, Front, Martin Luther King, Jr., Riverside and South Parks.
Sponsored by the City of Buffalo, donations to Olmsted ReLeaf, and Entercom Radio, the Olmsted Community Tree Plantings give volunteers the opportunity to make an important impact on the Buffalo community. Tree plantings are a great, fun way to enjoy the outdoors in the historic and popular Olmsted Parks.
The Olmsted Community Volunteer Tree Plantings are scheduled for 9:00 am - noon on Saturday, April 26 in Cazenovia, Martin Luther King, Jr., and South Parks and on Saturday, May 3 in Delaware, Front, and Riverside Parks. All volunteers must be at least 15 years of age to participate. Register by calling the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy at 838-1249 ext.15, or online at

2008 marks the thirty-year anniversary of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, a not-for-profit, membership-based, community organization, with the mission to broaden awareness of, appreciation for, and investment in the Buffalo Olmsted Park System in order to enhance, restore and maintain this historic cultural treasure for the benefit of current and future generations. Later this year, the Conservancy will unveil its 21 st Century Park's Master Plan, a blueprint for the future. The Olmsted System is the first of its kind in the nation designed by America's greatest landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Buffalo's Olmsted Parks are frequented by millions annually.

This volunteer activity may be physically demanding.

Important Volunteer notes:
? Volunteers will be managed and supervised by Olmsted staff. Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. Volunteers should come dressed for the weather and must have appropriate boots (work boots & gloves). Volunteers should be in good physical condition. Volunteers will not use any power tools and should not bring any type of power tools.
