The Sixth Best in NY: Independent Health

Independent Health is the sixth best company to work for in New York.

Independent Health was recognized and honored at an awards dinner Thursday (April 10) in Albany where the final rankings were revealed. This program is presented by the New York State Society for Human Resource Management in partnership with Best Companies Group.

"Independent Health is honored to be one of the best companies to work for in New York," said Gord Cumming, vice president, human resources and organizational development. "It is a confirmation of the culture we have fostered since Independent Health was founded over 25 years ago. Built on a culture of passion, caring, respect, collaboration and accountability, Independent Health has focused on creating a positive work experience for our employees while ensuring outstanding satisfaction for all of our members, customers and partners."

This statewide survey and awards program identifies, recognizes and honors the best places of employment in New York, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and business. The 30 top companies were split into medium and large-sized companies with the final rankings based on a company evaluation and employee survey.

Independent Health is known for its positive workplace culture and it has consistently been ranked among the top health plans nationally for member service satisfaction by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, J. D. Power and Associates, U.S. News & World Report and national consumer magazines.

"The culture and passion our employees have gives Independent Health the ability to exceed our customers' expectations and win national awards in customer service," Cumming said.

Headquartered in Buffalo, Independent Health began operations in 1980 and has consistently been rated among the top health plans in the country for customer service and member satisfaction.
