The Family25 is gearing up to launch its annual
Student Athlete Summer Youth Basketball Program
. All Western New York youngsters are welcome to participate.
The league will consist of 40 boys and girls teams consisting of children between the ages of 6 and 13. Games are played on Saturdays at the Edward Saunders Community Center, 2777 Bailey Ave., Buffalo. Games begin on May 19 and run through July.
The program will include
The Mayor's Summer Reading Challenge
, in which kids who read six books and complete six essays are eligible to compete for special prizes.
Also, before games, coaches, parents and peers will read the young athletes a story.
Important Dates:
- April 14 & 28:
Program registration, 10 ,am to 2 pm, Edward Saunders Community Center, 2777 Bailey Ave., Buffalo.
- May 12:
Student Athlete Summer Basketball Program fund raiser, 10 am to 1 pm. $25 fee includes shirts and food.
- May 19:
Summer program begins indoors for two weeks and will run until mid-July.
- July TBA:
Outdoor picnic for all participants.
