Congratulations to the 28 swimmers that competed January 11-14th in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Carmel swim club invitational. There were numerous teams from around the country from as far west as California, Oregon, and Washington, and as far East as New York. STAR had one of its greatest meets ever as our swimmers stepped up each morning and night. Leading the way in the women was Lauren Marchese with a USA Speedo time of 4:36.17 in the 400 IM while placing 1st overall in the 13-14 division. She also placed 3rd in the 200 fly, 7th in the 200 IM, and 15th in the 100 free. Also scoring for the STAR girls were Jen Bentley who placed 4th in the 100 free, 6th in the 500 free, and 17th in the 200 back. Lauren Caldwell placed 4th in the 200 fly, 6th in the 200 IM, 7th in the 400 IM, and 9th in the 500 free. Jordan Deren placed 13th in the 100 free. Ashley Harrington placed 13th in the 500 free. Rachel Heferle placed 13th in the 100 breast. Charlene Lichota placed 14th in the 500 free. Karen Meess placed 12th in the 200 back. Ashley Olsen placed 19th in the 200 back. Zoe Palmeri placed 15th in the 100 breast. Caitlin Sherlock placed 12th in the 1650 free. Other girls competing at the meet and swimming just as fast were: Katelin Adamczak, Molly Erickson, Gillian Green, Kelly Kaczor, Lizzie Lodinsky, Anna Plunkett, Katlyn Rice, Madie Sherry, and Sarah Stoklosa. For the men, Phil Aronica led the men with a USA Speedo time of 1:59.91 in the 200 fly and placing 5th. Phil also was 12th in the 500 free, and 15th in the 200 back. Dave Erickson placed 12th in the 200 back. Jamie Miller placed 7th in the 100 breast and 12th in the 200 IM. Jim Sundquist placed 3rd in the 100 free, 3rd in the 200 fly, 9th in the 500 free, and 11th in the 400 IM. Other boys competing at the meet and swimming fast were: Barrett Erbe, Jeff Erbes, Eric Kaczor, and Brian Meess.
