It was a chilly night on Thursday but the fans at Logan Field were warm with the feeling of victory as their Tonawanda Braves defeated the Rochester Greywolves by a score of 6-3. It was a game that could only be described as fast and well played.
Kelsey Sundown opened the scoring for Tonawanda at 11:22 in to the first period of play assisted by Scrubb Oak Brooks and Dustin Parker. That would be the only goal scored in that period which was fast moving and devoid of much whistle. Goalie Nek Jonathan was kept busy as the Greywolves threw him some tough shots. There was also some pretty fancy stickwork being performed between Scrubb and Huddy Nanticoke while on the offensive with only two minutes left.
The Braves came right back out in the second and scored at 18:28 into the play. This time it was Nick Brink who put in the goal with the help of Ryan Sundown. Then a few minutes later Rochester would get on the board. They kept the Braves on the run for a bit, scoring once again before Henan Scrogg would pop one in with Nek Jonathan getting the assist. With two minutes left, Mike Smoke scored unassisted.
The third period was nothing short of fun for the fans. The game kept moving and about three minutes into the play Mike Smoke scored again with the help of Matt Dean. A short couple of minutes later...it was Mike Smoke AGAIN! This time it was Josiah Blueye on the assist. It needs to be noted that it was Hat Trick night for Smoke...this rookie who plays like he's got something to prove. What a player! Rochester would score one more time before the end of the game leaving the Braves with the win. Nek Jonathan was once again, nothing short of amazing in goal!
