Speed limit lags behind development

Tonawanda Creek Rd. near Niagara Falls Boulevard is a disaster waiting to happen. The speed limit on the section of Tonawanda Creek Rd. between Niagara Falls Blvd. & Sweet Home Road is 45 MPH despite the fact that over the past 20 years the area has become more and more residentially populated. There are many children in the area that are at risk every day because of the high traffic volume traveling at speeds between 45 and 60 MPH. Tonawanda Creek Road is a county road and any changes in speed limit would need to go through the county, but I'm sure were the powers that be in Amherst to put pressure on Erie County, the area could have a reduced speed limit in place quickly. A similar road in North Tonawanda, Sweeney Street has a 30 MPH speed limit is tighly controlled.
