Applebee's Offers Groups New Ways to Fundraise
Contributed by: Latrese Burruss on 8/29/2008

Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants in New York and Connecticut are making it easier for community organizations to raise money in their neighborhood. Its new Web site, tlcneighborhood.com, recently launched as a place where organizations can get information about fundraising opportunities at Applebee's restaurants in the two states.

Fundraising events which can be scheduled right on the tlcneighborhood.com site include:

Flapjack Fundraiser: Offered exclusively to schools, youth sports or youth service organizations, groups can host a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebee's. Applebee's provides the venue, food and beverages for the breakfasts while the organizations are responsible for selling tickets and serving as volunteers at the event.

Dining to Donate: Available to any 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, groups can host a Dining to Donate event at an Applebee's restaurant. Organizations book an event date, and distribute vouchers in advance of the event. Ten percent of guest checks that accompany event vouchers are donated back to the charitable organization.

Tip A Firefighter/Tip A Cop: Local fire companies and police departments can host events at Applebee's to raise funds for special projects, equipment purchases, general operating expenses or educational programs. As firefighters and police officers wait on and clear tables and greet guests, they will collect "tips" in special envelopes for their efforts. All "tips" benefit the group's fundraising efforts.

"Applebee's is proud to support the neighborhoods where our associates and guests live and work by helping local organizations with their fundraising efforts," said Matt Fairbairn, CEO of T.L. Cannon Companies. "Tlcneighborhood.com provides even better access to our fundraising programs for not-for-profit agencies and public servants like police and fire fighters. By getting these groups engaged in the fundraising process, we hope to provide unique and fun experiences, both for our patrons and the organizations themselves," he added.

Applebee's also offers education based recognition programs including the Bookworm Club reading incentive and "A is for Applebee's" academic achievement rewards that can be ordered on the Web site. For more information on all of these programs or to book a fundraising event, visit www.tlcneighborhood.com.
