World Class Drum Corps Return to Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY - Witness music in motion this summer and experience the power and precision of the world's best drum and bugle corps return to Western New York for the 12 th year. Drums Along the Waterfront, Inc. (DATW) will take place on Sunday, August 3 rd at 6:30 p.m. at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park. A Drum Corps International (DCI) sanctioned event, more than 1,000 of the best musical athletes will compete in this world class competition.

"It is hard to believe that Drums Along the Waterfront is in the midst of its twelfth season here in Western New York," said Jack Gaylord, Jr., President, Drums Along the Waterfront, Inc. "It is an honor to have the opportunity, year after year, to bring this musical pageant to the people in this region. Those who have attended performances in past years have been amazed at the level of athleticism and visual appeal of this musical sport. And this year's competition is sure to be better than ever," added Gaylord.

This year's event will showcase nine of the best drum and bugle corps from around the world, six of which are in the top twelve, including: Bluecoats (OH), Madison Scouts (WI), Boston Crusaders (MA), Blue Knights (CO), Colts (IA) and Glassmen (OH). The drum and bugle corps are independent, not-for-profit youth groups that are comprised of musical athletes aged 16-21. Each corps includes approximately 150 members playing brass, percussion and color guard dancers. These musical athletes tour the country throughout the summer, sleeping in school gyms and competing against other drum & bugle corps.

Tickets for this year's event are currently on sale and can be purchased at the Ralph Wilson Stadium Box Office or online at ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster Outlet. The price for adults is $22.00, $11.00 for children 12 and under and $20.00 for those 65 and older, if purchased in advance. The day of the event, tickets are $25.00 for adults, $12.50 for children 12 and under and $25.00 for those 65 and older. Discounts for large groups are also available. Parking is free. Drums Along the Waterfront, Inc. (DATW) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is an educational, promotional and service arm of the youth drum and bugle corps activity in Western New York. DATW's mission is to promote, develop and preserve the operation and artistic standards of the competitive musical sport, while organizing and providing leadership for the activity.
