Contributed by: Stephen Bewlay on 1/17/2007

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Education Department would like to announce the addition of 2 more education concerts this year. The concerts will take place on May 8 at 10:15 and at 12:15. The concerts were added because attendance at the Education Concerts are up a whopping 65% over last year due to the new vision by Resident Conductor Robert Franz. The 2 concerts that are added will be Music and Writing for 3rd through 6th grades at 10:15 and The Jefferson Era for Middle and High School Students at 12:15. To book a concert call the education department at the BPO at 716-885-0331 ext.412 or email education@bpo.org.

Music and Writing
March 27 12:15
May 8 10:15

This program focuses on the connection found between composing and writing. Students discover that through writing they are connected to the creative process that all artists share. This is made clear when you consider that composers and writers ask themselves many of the same questions and come to many of the same conclusions about character, setting and conflict/resolution.

Jefferson Era
March 28 10:15
May 8 12:15
The Jefferson Era, a concert developed by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Resident Conductor Robert Franz for Middle and High School students, will make connections between architecture government, and music through the creative minds of Ludwig van Beethoven and Thomas Jefferson. We will explore form in music and architecture, as well as the political context within which the artists work. The cost of this concert is only $6 per person and for every 15 tickets purchased you will receive one free ticket for a chaperon.

For more information on these programs please go to bpo.org.

You may also email the Education Department at education@bpo.org.
