Three years ago a seven year old boy ,who was then and still is ,Marty Biron's greatest fan, sat down and wrote a fan letter. It was an unusual letter with future predictions that he wrote to the NHL net minder. It encouraged Marty to keep working hard like he does. The letter continued on to confide to number 43 not to worry and that indeed someday he would play in the net for the Stanley Cup. A few strange events occured since that mystic fan letter. Doors opened and paved the way to make it all possible. As fate would have it, no longer being a Sabre was part of the onward price to pay. But that was apparently needed to create the chain of opportunity.
Back three years ago it might have seemed unlikely to Marty. He was stuck in the position of Sabres backup goalie at the time and the letter was worth at best a smile or two. But as I recall the young fan never did say Marty would be in the net "for the Sabres" just "for the Cup". No further predictions revealed in the letter, I guess it's up to the Philly team to give a go now and realize the whole dream. If moxey it takes they have it.
But Philly is flying high tonight. They wanted the win and Marty did as always his best. He even got an assist. Good for you 43 and the whole Philly team. On to round two you go. We get the Center Ice bonus of seeing more of a high spirited Danny Briere too. I'll be busy checking under a certain ten year old's bed for a crystal ball. The fan letter has already come true but I want more information. I've got my questions ready before school in the AM and additional follow up ones over the next weeks. Hey Marty, sometimes you CAN believe the hype and your fan letters. Can Philly make it fly? Good luck and we'll see soon, very soon.
