Buffalo will participate in National Day of Prayer
Contributed by: M Weber   on 4/11/2007

"Buffalo is a city of blight, depression and hopelessness, 'where nothing good gets done,'" says Mark Weber of BuffaloChristian.com. "This is exactly the kind of place where God can and will show up if people pray. Only God can save a city so broken and beaten like Buffalo."

Buffalo and Erie County will participate in the National Day of Prayer 2007.

The band Relevant Worship will lead worship at the United Buffalo Concert of Prayer event, taking place at 7:30pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts. Families and people of all ages and backgrounds are invited to this evening of heartfelt prayer for our region's government, schools, families, churches, media, businesses, and communities, as well as for our nation. Admission is free. For more info, please visit www.nationaldayofprayer.org.

On Thursday, May 3, from 7am to 9am, there will be prayer at Elim Christian Fellowship, 70 Chalmers Ave., in Buffalo, followed by Prayer at the Square (Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo in front of City Hall) at 12 Noon.

"Does anyone in Buffalo care?," asks Weber. "We shall see if these prayer events are well attended or if Buffalonians ignore these events. There are plenty of churches all over Buffalo, but few are making tangible differences in this community where drugs and despair reign. Does anyone want God to change this place for the better?"

Here are some things Weber thinks should be prayed about:
1) Pray that suburban white people and inner-city black people start coming together more instead of avoiding one another.
2) Pray that all the ugly, old buildings in Buffalo get bulldozed to make way forstylish, newbuildings so our community doesn't look like Beirut.
3) Pray that the government downsizes so taxpayers aren't wasting money for duplicated services.
4) Pray that more people choose Jesus than drugs, so they don't have to live life in bondage to their addiction.
5) Pray that people from outside the area move here and become leaders in the community who can affect positive change, quickly and efficiently.
6) Pray that people who go to church actually get something out of it, rather than just going thru the motions there. Pray for churches and church leaders that help transform people's lives around here.
