-On Tuesday, March 20, at 4:03 p.m. at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, the Presiding Bishop of the Church of God In Christ, Bishop G.E. Patterson, passed away as a result of heart failure. Patterson was surrounded by his wife, Mrs. Louise Patterson, and his family. Patterson served as the leader of the fourth-largest Protestant religious denomination in the world with an estimated membership of 6.5 million members. He led the denomination since November 2000. Bishop Patterson was 68. He was the president and general manager of WBBP Radio, a 5000-watt full gospel radio station. He was also President of Podium Records, a newly formed record label whose first project, Bishop G. E. Patterson Presents Rance Allen and the Soul Winner's Conference Choir, was nominated for a 1999 Grammy Award. Podium Records Company is requesting that all gospel announcers, print media, and any and all gospel industry inquiries be referred to Zadella "Mama" Curtis at this time. Her contact information is 773-814-5673 and email address is mamacurtis@hotmail.com. Please keep the Patterson family, COGIC family, and Podium Records Company in your prayers.

-On the highly anticipated new EMI Gospel release, "Live - One Last Time," the legendary Clark Sisters bring together their dynamic riffs, soulful scats and untouched harmonies as they continue to inspire and influence the music industry with their first joint recording since 1994. As pioneers of the contemporary gospel format, The Clark Sisters are credited with helping to bring gospel music to the mainstream. Their latest collaboration of new songs and old favorites rekindles the magic of the famed "Clark Sound" as one of the most anticipated gospel albums of the year hits stores on April 10. One of the CD's showstoppers is the re-make of their landmark 1981 cut that elevated the group into a musical class of their own, "You Brought The Sunshine."

-Roger Bennett, piano player of Legacy Five and formerly the Cathedral Quartet, passed away Saturday morning, March 17th. For more info, visit www.legacyfive.com.

-"American Idol" moved to the big stage recently and guess who loves Jesus, a lot??? Melinda Doolittle, Chris Sligh, Jordin Sparks, and Phil Stacey are all Jesus lovers. Phil is the minister of music at First Coast Christian in Jacksonville, Fla., and is currently doing graduate work at dc Talk's alma mater, Liberty University. Michael W. Smith, via his Web site (www.michaelwsmith.com), is reminding his fans to vote for Jordin, who was a singer on Smitty's Christmastime tours in 2005 and 2006. Nashville has taken a shine to Melinda, who has sung backup for a lot of famous Christian/Gospel singers. She's also a Belmont University grad, so the local Fox affiliate in Nashvegas, Fox 17, has been following her on AI. Finally, Chris' church, Seacoast Church in Greenville, S.C., has been having weekly AI parties to cheer on their worship leader. American Idol and Jesus go together: who knew?

-Fervent Records is proud to announce the latest addition to its artist roster, pureNRG. The talented, high-energy group's self-titled debut album releases May 1, 2007. pureNRG is comprised of Jordan Yates, 14, Caroline Williams, 12, and Carolyne Myers, 11, who live up to the "pureNRG" moniker with their vibrant stage performance and innate talent. Renowned manager Norman Miller (Casting Crowns, Nichole Nordeman, Jump5), developed the group and was active in the selection process of each member. pureNRG's debut project was produced by Rob Hawkins (Jackson Waters) with vocals produced by Mark Hammond (Everlife, Cheetah Girls, Ashley Tisdale). The album features engaging pop songs that showcase the strong vocal talents of the three group members. From the bouncy opening track "360," to their cover of the spirited 80s classic "Footloose," to the hope-filled message of "When I Get To Heaven," pureNRG will hopefully connect with tweens and teens.

-America is not quite ready to let Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers make good on their announcement one year ago to part company after 15 years of sharing what is arguably a collection of some of the most inspirational gospel songs ever recorded. Lawrence and his Grammy® nominated Tri-City Singers ensemble are now on the spring edition of their critically acclaimed Finale Tour, visiting 25 cities over a five-week span.

-Singer/songwriter Lindsey Kane recently signed a music distribution deal with TAG Distribution, the fourth largest Christian distributor of exclusive products. Kane is scheduled to release her second studio album entitled Move Me, which will be in stores on August 14th, 2007. More than 13,000 fans have responded to Kane's Measure Of Beauty Campaign, which focuses on spreading the word to young women regarding how God perceives and measures true beauty rather than society's perception. Kane has a goal of reaching 1 million girls through www.myspace.com/lindseykane2. The idea was birthed after thinking about how she could use MySpace.com for the glory of God and reach out to the 100 plus million subscribers to the site. She noticed that there was intense emphasis on the outward appearance on the site and she wanted to do something to share with the girls about how God measures beauty.

-Christian adult contemporary/pop artist Cheri Keaggy says, "I can't believe it's been 13 years since my very first album, Child of the Father, was released. Thank you all for being so encouraging through the years. I'm humbled that God has allowed me to share the music He's given me to build up His Church and I look forward to all that He has for the future. The big news this month is that my new CD is finally here." Why not say hi to Cheri and ask her about her new CD? Email her at ckeaggy@aol.com.

-Here's a name you haven't heard from in a while: Rick Cua. Back in the 1980s, he was a Christian rock star with big hair. Most rockers in the 1980s had big hair-- thank God that trend is over. Anyway, Rick has a sleeker, less hairy look now, and he has spent the past few years working behind the scenes in the Christian music industry, helping develop artists like Anadara and Charity Von. But now, in celebration of 25 years of music ministry, Rick's stepping back into the spotlight, performing and recording his own material. His new CD, "Won't Fade Away," is now available at www.rickcua.com.

-Bishop Leonard Scott, a music minister from Indianapolis, has written a book called Soaring With Eagles: Seven Keys to Developing a Worship Lifestyle. It's a collection of lessons and information learned through the years as gleaned from the Bible, numerous instructors, mentors, and personal life experiences. The book is a virtual "Christianity 101" course in the basics for a Spirit-filled, triumphant life. It is a spiritual boot camp for the new believer, and a refresher course for the seasoned saint. For more info, visit www.bishoplscott.com.

-Generation Unleashed (the largest regional youth conference in The States) celebrated the release of their Maranatha! Approximately 6,300 attendants representing 317 U.S. churches and 16 international churches from countries such as Canada, Japan, Australia, Puerto Rico, Mexico and The Netherlands, attended the 14th Annual Generation Unleashed Conference. Between 800-1,000 youth pastors and youth leaders attended the youth pastor workshops and between 500-800 youth made a first time faith commitment during the weekend events. For more information on Generation Unleashed, please visit www.genunleashed.com.

-Artpark is a public performance venue located a stone's throw from Niagara Falls. Artpark has hosted hugely successful secular pop and rock concerts over the past few decades. It has never hosted a major Christian concert, however, until now! Yme? Ministry (www.ymeministry.org) hosts "A Very Special Evening with Rebecca St. James, Relevant Worship and Brooke Yaiser" at Artpark in Lewiston, New York, on Friday, June 15th, at 7pm. Tickets for this family-friendly are available by calling 1-888-223-6000. Why not make a family vacation out of this? See Rebecca St. James in concert AND visit the mighty Falls in breathtakingly beautiful Western New York, where summers are serene.

-EMI Gospel President Ken Pennell is finally ready to share his new urban inspirational artist with the world. Darlene McCoy, an anointed singer-songwriter, signed with EMI Gospel back in 2004. Since the initial signing, she's been on numerous gospel compilations, most notably, the gold certified WOW Gospel 2006 release. Atlanta's own Darlene McCoy now has one of the most anticipated inspirational albums to be released in 2007. Her pastor, Bishop Eddie L. Long, Senior Pastor of New Birth Cathedral in metro Atlanta, has stated the following about his daughter in the Gospel: "Darlene has the mandate to lead the Church and the secular world into worship. God has charged her to be a voice singing in the wilderness of this world, outside of the normal means of ministry." With the full backing of her label EMI Gospel, they're prepared to release her self-titled debut album on May 8th. Watch for it.

-During each stop on the North American tour, Switchfoot is selling "bootleg" copies of live songs from the concert that night. Copies of each city's version will only be available for sale at the concert in the city it was recorded in. A new website, www.switchfootbootlegs.com, has been created to share the "bootleg" copies with fans in other cities. Visit the site to download live recordings from their current North American tour.

-"Recollection: The Best Of Nichole Nordeman," a 17-song CD from pop/folk singer Nichole Nordeman brings together hits from her discography spanning four studio recordings. Recollection includes "Holy", "Every Season," "Legacy," and two new songs, "Sunrise" and the 2007 Women Of Faith anthem, "Finally Free." Nordeman is scheduled at Women Of Faith conferences this summer and throughout the fall.

-Hiding Place, the acclaimed fourth release from Curb recording artist Selah, has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). With sales now exceeding 500,000 units, Hiding Place released in 2004 and was produced by Jason Kyle, Todd Smith, Allan Hall and Nicol Sponberg. The 2005 Dove Award-winning Inspirational Album of the Year, Hiding Place features Selah's signature mix of hymns and new and classic praise and worship compositions, as well as the group's multi-format breakthrough hit, "You Raise Me Up." Selah's latest recording, Bless The Broken Road - The Duets Album, released last year and has been nominated for a 2007 Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year. The project's title cut has also received Dove Award nominations for Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, while "Glory," featuring Nichole Nordeman, has earned a nod for Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year.

-The long-awaited sophomore effort from Curb recording artist Nate Sallie, Ruined For Ordinary, is a reflection of the dramatic spiritual transformation Sallie has undergone during the past two years. Ruined For Ordinary features 11 tracks, all written or co-written by Sallie, including three selections co-penned with his pastor, Dale Evrist. The project also contains an unplugged bonus cut, "Sing Through Me," which was written and produced by Sallie. Highlights of Ruined For Ordinary include "Breakthrough," "Holy Spirit," "Look At Me Now," "Undercover Belief," and the emphatic title-cut, Sallie's declaration to reject anything less than the abundant life found in a personal relationship with Christ. A 24-minute bonus EP, written and produced entirely by Sallie, will be available exclusively at Family Christian Stores nationwide for a limited time. The Ruined For Ordinary - Inspired Heart Edition contains the special five-song worship EP in addition to the new recording. In addition, Sallie's first book, "Sing Through Me: Songs and Stories Inspired By A Life Ruined For Ordinary!" was recently published and is available for purchase at www.natesallie.com, as well as at his concerts.
