Nothing is as exciting as finding a special someone in the family actually following in your footsteps. Maybe the finest of complements. Each year I work hard to create a floral adventure for my family in our own backyard. My yard is my canvas. I have divided the environment into rooms with greenery walls, to achieve moments of privacy as well as togetherness for all. As spring comes bursting forth everyone has their favorite niche. Even my Westies have their spots to investigate. Bush areas to delve around in have been their long time favorites.
For years when I would plant bushes or roses my dogs have come forward to dig the holes for me. It works like aim and shoot. They are willing, but you have to keep repositioning them to get the dirt to fly the right direction. The size of the dog is a point to consider if you need this type of assistance. Putting harnesses on helps move them in the right direction. I wear sunglasses because the dirt really flys.My pupsquick, efficient, and willing to work in duos.
I never guessed my terriers registered with the expected floral part of the yard upsurge until today. We apparently have another young artist in the family. The morning sun came streaming in the window and there it was. Defined with the only paint brush handy, a wet nose, was a piece of spring art. A perfect tulip on the bottom with leaves, clouds dispensing rain, and a lone star in the sky were all neatly composed. I now understand getting his little beard in a lather barking at joggers does have a special purpose. This is how he created the rain from the cloud effect. Yes indeed they do emulate their masters. A fine excuse to hold on spring window washing and get back out in the yard to enjoy watching the flowers grow.
What's this pups name? Oddly enough "Artie"! No matter what we tried to name him,he kept earnestly insisting by responding with the sounds "ART- ER". He named himself.
