Blog Entry 20 of 26 The Narrative Opinions of Artica Burr
I'm a Buffalo native and author of fiction. I do like to spin a yarn so -dunno, dunno, if I'll deal you fact or fiction when I blog. To be honest as a spring breeze there is always a shred of truth. Up to YOU to find it! Oh, and skip my blogs if you lack humor or varied subject matter. Like it or not I think in what some call Narrative Verse. My pen name is Artica Burr, my Buffalo born name Cheryl Hugenschmidt, my married name Cheryl Goodrich, and my educational web site is located at www.articaburr.com Now you are fair warned! From time to time I address a more serious areas of concern. Might I mention there is no way to minus rate me!

To the surprise of many there are actually two Lake Georges in New York State. Lake George is highly commercialized and positioned upstate in the Adirondacks. Little Lake George in Erie County, is a sleepy little spring fed lake near the Akron/Alden town lines but it is being awakened by the sound of laughter. Not the frivolity of the loons who occasionally stop by, but by laughter of those taking a break from everyday life - fishing. In many cases it's their initial experience with the sport.

Green space has long been known to be a restful and rejuvenating environment. Water has a natural allure simply because we instinctively know we cannot live without it. There is no doubt the scent of water combined with the aroma of lush growth creates a feeling of well being. Moments of repose separate one from the ordinary pattern of life. Lulled by the timeless sounds of nature, tranquility prevails.

Little Lake George is a NYS Charity open by reservation only and operated solely by volunteers. The charity is supported by donations and reservations for family style picnics as well as fishing events. It's a place where we share space and leave little trace. Rest assured the animals who call it home appreciate that kindness. Short term or one time volunteers are welcome. Offer a few hours of your assistance and reap the internal benefits of giving to others and making our world a better place. Little Lake George has the magic ingredients, but an important one is missing - YOU - as a volunteer.

Help us provide the young and old with the simple happiness of the natural world. Those with but a few hours to spare are welcome. Family volunteering is welcomed. How often we are open this summer and fall all depends upon YOU. Make a difference. Call Cheryl 716-984-8900 or Gene 716-984-4450 for volunteer dates and hours as well as open schedule dates for your events or family get togethers. Impress everyone by helping a charity while having a good time.
